MakenBreak's Mission to Bridge the Learning Gap

This episode of The Newzchain Podcast featured Mansi Gupta, co-founder of MakenBreak a company creating innovative educational toys and games.

The concept behind MakenBreak was envisioned over many cups of tea during their time at IIT Gandhinagar, where Mansi and her co-founder Neeraj witnessed a disconnect between classroom learning and real-world application.

Their desire to bridge this gap and inspire children to look at more than just textbooks or iPads led them on this journey to create a new kind of learning experience.

India's 72nd position out of 73 participants in the PISA exam was a jolt that forced them to face the reality that we do not have an application-oriented mindset. They also noticed that most students in STEM find it very hard to secure jobs once they have graduated.

And so Mansi and Neeraj decided to focus on play-based learning. Their core belief and understanding was that children learn best through enjoyable experiences. This philosophy was what ultimately led to the creation of their first product, a walking robot.

This robot isn't your typical high-tech gadget. It requires no code and relies solely on mechanics, allowing children to understand basic concepts like movement and balance before moving to anything more advanced.

The robot's design cleverly demonstrates the importance of knees in human walking – a fun way to introduce basic engineering principles.

MakenBreak prioritizes affordability, recognizing the value-conscious nature of the Indian market. They strive to make their toys accessible to all children, regardless of socioeconomic background.

MakenBreak's mission aligns perfectly with its company name: to make learning fun and break down the barriers between theory and practice.

They envision a future where children can grasp complex concepts through engaging play, preparing them for the ever-evolving world.
