Union Minister Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi to inaugurate EV testing facility at National Test House in Bengaluru

The Union government is set to significantly bolster electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in South India with the launch of a state-of-the-art testing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka. On August 22, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, will lay the foundation stone for this facility at the National Test House (NTH) located within the RRSL Jakkuru campus.

This new facility represents a strategic initiative aimed at expanding EV battery and charger testing capabilities, crucial for the region's burgeoning EV ecosystem. The lab will be equipped with advanced testing equipment, capable of performing a wide range of tests, including electrical safety, EMC/EMF, FCC/ISED compliance, functional safety, and durability. These services are vital for ensuring that EV batteries and chargers meet stringent quality standards before reaching consumers.

"This new EV testing facility will provide vital support to the EV industry and contribute to the development of the sector in southern India," said an official.

The establishment of this facility highlights the government’s commitment to driving the transition to electric mobility, aligning with India’s broader goals of environmental sustainability and innovation in automotive technology. The NTH, operating under the Department of Consumer Affairs, has been a leader in testing and quality assurance across various sectors, with a network of state-of-the-art laboratories across the country.
