Ride-hailing mammoth Uber is reintroducing its premium service, Uber Black, in India, beginning with Mumbai next week.
According to a company statement, Uber Black offers a highly personalized ride experience with features such as quiet mode, temperature control, and assistance with luggage. Additionally, riders will benefit from an extended five-minute pickup window without extra waiting fees, enhancing flexibility.
Originally launched in India in 2013, Uber Black initially featured high-end vehicles like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. However, the service was later replaced with models such as Toyota Innova, Honda City, and Toyota Corolla before being suspended a year later. The revamped Uber Black will now include luxury cars and top-rated drivers, aiming to deliver a superior travel experience.
Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, expressed excitement about the relaunch, highlighting it as a response to the evolving preferences of Indian customers.
“We are thrilled to reintroduce Uber Black in a new format, offering a premium travel experience akin to business class on the road,” Singh stated.
“As the largest on-demand mobility network with industry-leading matching, routing, and pricing tech and scaled fleet operations – we are bringing the magic of consistent high-quality service and premium comfort with Black.”
As a leading mobility service in India, Uber aims to accommodate all types of riders, from budget-conscious individuals to those seeking premium experiences.
Furthermore, reports suggest that Uber is set to launch a premium bus service named Uber Shuttle in Delhi, following the receipt of an aggregator license from the city's Transport Department.
The company plans to introduce 50 air-conditioned buses that will serve various routes throughout the national capital. These buses will operate on designated routes, linking major business hubs with residential neighborhoods across Delhi. The service is expected to commence in the coming days, aiming to enhance urban mobility with a focus on comfort and convenience.
