Garena Faces Setback: Free Fire Delayed in India

  • Garena, the gaming unit of Sea, faces a prolonged delay in launching its popular mobile game Free Fire in India.
  • Garena had partnered with local company Yotta for storage needs in India and aimed for the initial release on September 5.
  • Despite the previous ban on PUBG, Krafton's game has regained popularity and become the top choice for Indian gamers.

Garena, the gaming unit of Sea, has been experiencing a prolonged delay in launching its popular mobile game Free Fire in India. Despite announcing plans to do so over six months ago, the game has yet to be released, causing concerns among entrepreneurs and investors.

Garena had teamed up with Yotta, a local company, for storage needs in India and initially aimed to release the game on September 5. However, the company is still tweaking the game to suit local preferences and has not given any significant updates.

This delay has left Free Fire's fanbase in India feeling frustrated, prompting many players to make the switch to Krafton's BGMI.

India had previously banned Krafton's PUBG in the country, but last year allowed the company to launch a similar battle royale title. Krafton's game has once again risen to the top as the most popular game in India.
