Covetrus unveils AI-powered tools in its Pulse platform at VMX 2025 to streamline veterinary operations

Covetrus AI-powered tools launch at VMX 2025

Covetrus, a tech-enabled veterinary practice improvement company, unveiled new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features within its Pulse platform at the VMX 2025 conference. The updates include workflow automation and enhanced treatment boards aimed at streamlining veterinary operations and improving patient care.

The features are integrated into the broader Covetrus Platform and are designed to reduce administrative tasks and improve business efficiency for veterinary practices.

AI features for veterinary workflows

The AI-powered features are available at no additional cost. They include ambient listening and automatic SOAP note generation based on real-time conversations during appointments.

SOAP notes cover the Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan elements of an appointment. The automatic generation of these notes is intended to save time for veterinary professionals by automating time-consuming documentation.

The platform also provides AI-generated pre-appointment summaries. These summaries allow veterinarians to prepare for appointments more effectively.

Enhanced treatment boards provide real-time updates on patient care and are designed to improve collaboration among veterinary teams.

What Covetrus says about the platform updates

"Veterinarians are increasingly seeking ways to optimize their practice workflows while maintaining the highest level of care for their patients," said Scot Gillespie, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Covetrus.
"By integrating AI-driven automation into the Covetrus Platform, we are empowering veterinary teams to enhance efficiency, generate greater insights to support patient care, and increase personalized communication to support pet parents."

Reported time savings and operational benefits

Covetrus claims that the innovations have already led to significant benefits for veterinary practices. The company reports that its AI-powered tools can save up to five minutes per appointment, potentially adding an extra hour of productivity per practitioner each day.

The technology is also expected to reduce staff burnout by decreasing administrative workloads and increase revenue through improved patient care and pharmacy utilization.

The AI enhancements are designed to improve patient care, boost productivity, and provide veterinary practices with business insights.

Covetrus plans further AI development

Covetrus plans to continue expanding its AI capabilities for veterinary clinics. Future developments are intended to support more personalized care and greater operational efficiency.

The company also plans to develop deeper insights into patient journeys and improved business analytics through machine learning models.

Covetrus’s AI-powered tools are part of its ongoing efforts to improve the financial and clinical outcomes of veterinary practices globally.
