Microsoft views Copilot as a valuable source of future income. The aim is to attract more paying customers for Copilot and enhance the appeal of Microsoft's existing services, such as Word, Excel, and other apps in the Microsoft 365 family, with AI features.

The consumer plan costs $20 per user per month. This plan allows customers to access Copilot GenAI features on Word, Excel (currently available only in English), PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote on PC, Mac, and iPad. However, to enjoy these features, customers must have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family plan.

In Word and OneNote, Copilot assists with writing, editing, summarizing, and generating text. In Excel and PowerPoint, Copilot transforms natural language commands into presentations and data visualizations. In Outlook, Copilot aids in drafting email responses with options to adjust the length or tone.

For Copilot Pro subscribers, there are additional benefits. They receive 100 daily "boosts" in Designer, Microsoft's AI-powered image creation tool, to expedite the image generation process.

In the coming years, Copilot Pro subscribers will have the option to switch between models based on their preferences. If they need more customization, they can use Microsoft's upcoming Copilot GPT Builder to create personalized "Copilots" for specific subjects using sets of prompts.
