Apple Intelligence is now available to the public through the newly released iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 public betas. This release offers users their first chance to explore Apple’s highly anticipated generative AI features, first introduced earlier this year at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. These features, which were previously limited to developer betas, are now open for broader testing.
Among the standout features is the “Clean Up” tool in Photos, which allows users to remove unwanted objects by simply circling them, making it a direct competitor to Google’s Magic Eraser. The release also includes new AI-powered writing tools that provide advanced proofreading, summarization, and the ability to rewrite text in various tones such as professional, concise, or friendly. These updates aim to enhance user productivity across Apple’s platforms.
Siri has also undergone its biggest redesign to date. The voice assistant now features an illuminated border instead of the traditional icon, making it less obtrusive on screen. Siri’s functionality has also improved, with the assistant now capable of better understanding users even when they misspeak. Additionally, users can now type commands and ask Siri for help with device tasks such as resetting an AirTag or recording the screen.
For those eager to test these features, enrolling in Apple’s beta program is simple. After registering, users must manually enable Apple Intelligence by going to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Join the Apple Intelligence waitlist.
As TechCrunch highlighted, “Along with proofreading and summarizing, the system will rewrite text in a variety of styles, including professional, concise, and friendly.”
Apple is expected to release the final versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 in October. Further Apple Intelligence updates will continue to roll out later this year, with even more exciting features on the way.
