OORJAA raises $1M in Series A first close led by Equentis

OORJAA, a technology-led logistics platform, has raised Rs 9.7 crore ($1 million) in a Series A funding round led by Equentis Angel Fund, with participation from Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). This is the first close of a larger round, for which the company is in advanced discussions with a few VC funds.

What OORJAA does

Co-founded in 2019 by Sandeep Patil, Prashant Mohite, Yogesh Parab and Umesh Singh, OORJAA is a technology-led logistics company operating mid-mile and last-mile networks across more than 200 Indian cities.

OORJAA’s proprietary AI stack, Datashastra, powers route optimisation, reconciliation and 24×7 control-tower visibility. The platform is also offered as a standalone SaaS suite internationally.

Its differentiator is an outcome-linked cost-per-unit model, under which clients pay for units moved rather than assets deployed. OORJAA claims to move more than 3 million products and 50,000 last-mile orders daily across over 200 cities, while maintaining 95% SLA compliance for enterprise clients including Zepto, Blinkit, Amazon and Swiggy.

The company is also deploying EVs across dense urban clusters to further lower unit costs and emissions.

Funding and use of funds

The fresh funds will be used for technology and product development, scaling Datashastra, its proprietary AI/SaaS logistics stack, and strengthening its control-tower and automation capabilities, OORJAA said in a press release.

The Mumbai-based startup had earlier secured $1.5 million in a pre-Series A round led by Micello Fund, with participation from Capital-A, Java Capital, Anicut Capital and Lead Angels in September 2023.

In October 2023, it raised Rs 5.35 crore in a pre-Series A 2 round from Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), Vinners Platform, Soonicorn Ventures and HEM Angels.

The logistics market

According to market research, the global logistics market is valued at $10 trillion, while the logistics SaaS segment, which Datashastra focuses on, is growing at a high single-digit to double-digit CAGR.

Technology-led logistics platforms are becoming an increasingly important part of India’s startup ecosystem, using AI, SaaS, automation, real-time tracking, data analytics and digital marketplaces to address inefficiencies in the country’s fragmented freight and supply-chain sector.

Gurugram-based TrucksUp raised $8.2 million today to strengthen its technology platform and streamline trucking operations.

FreightFox raised Rs 5 crore to scale its transportation management and control-tower platform, while tech-driven EV fleet and fulfillment startup TOCAL secured Rs 9 crore to expand into new cities and build fulfillment infrastructure.
