Brazil’s beloved instant payment system, Pix, is about to become even more powerful. Come September, the Central Bank of Brazil will roll out Pix Parcelado, a unique feature that lets users split payments into installments - without a credit card.

For millions of Brazilians, installment payments are a way of life. Until now, credit card companies held a monopoly over this space, charging fees and interest. But with Pix Parcelado, anyone can break up larger purchases without the usual credit hurdles

“The feature has the potential to boost Pix usage in retail for higher-value purchases, benefiting those without access to traditional credit options,” the Brazilian central bank stated.
