Zo Selections: Zostel’s move into premium hospitality

Zostel has launched Zo Selections, a premium hospitality vertical under its parent company Zo World. The first property has opened in Jaipur, combining private accommodation with the social experiences associated with the brand.

The launch is aimed at travellers who have moved beyond hostel dorms but still want opportunities to meet people and participate in activities during their stays. The Jaipur property includes private rooms, jacuzzi suites, common spaces and workstations.

What Zo Selections adds to Zostel’s portfolio

Zo Selections expands Zostel’s hospitality offering beyond its existing formats, which include Zostel Plus, Zostel Homes and Zo House. Its first property is designed around a more private stay without removing shared spaces and programmed experiences.

At the Jaipur property, those experiences include bonfires, workshops and sundowners. The in-house restaurant, Amaano, serves Rajasthani cuisine. The property also includes workstations, making it relevant to travellers who need a place to work alongside accommodation and leisure spaces.

From a 24-bed hostel to a wider network

Founded in 2013, Zostel began with a 24-bed hostel in Jodhpur. It has since grown to a network of around 5,000 beds across India, Nepal and Thailand. The company said it has recorded more than 5 million journeys across its properties.

Zo World has also expanded its hospitality network beyond Zostel. Zostel recently opened its 100th property and its first overseas location in Phuket, while the group has expanded into Europe through Safestay.

Where Zo Selections goes next

The company plans to open its next Zo Selections property in Gokarna, followed by locations in Mussoorie, Pench and Lonavla. Zo World is targeting 10,000 beds as it enters the premium hospitality segment.

The Jaipur launch gives Zo Selections a starting point for testing a middle ground between hostel dorms and more private hospitality: rooms and suites for individual comfort, alongside common spaces and activities for social interaction.
