Ziina and skrooge.ai partner on payments and accounting

Ziina, a UAE-based consumer and business financial platform, has partnered with skrooge.ai, an AI-powered accounting and tax service for UAE businesses, the companies announced. The integration automatically syncs Ziina transactions with skrooge.ai, using automation and AI to reduce the work involved in keeping financial records up to date.

Once a business connects its Ziina Business Account to skrooge.ai, all new Ziina transactions sync to its books, the companies said. Owners can see revenue in real time, reconcile payments and keep their financial records current without moving transaction data between systems by hand.

The integration supports different payment workflows. Businesses that invoice clients can add Ziina payment links to skrooge.ai invoices, and payment status updates when an invoice is paid.

For businesses that receive payments before issuing an invoice, such as restaurants and hotels, Skrooge can generate the corresponding invoice after payment and match it to the transaction. Businesses can also use Skrooge through WhatsApp or Telegram to create invoices with Ziina payment links, check paid invoices and send payment reminders.

Ziina is a licensed fintech platform founded in 2020 by Faisal Toukan, Sarah Toukan and Talal Toukan. It offers instant transfers, payment links, QR code payments, Tap to Pay and the Ziina Card, and says it serves over 500,000 annual business and consumer users in the UAE.

Skrooge is a Dubai-based service that pairs software with senior accountants to handle bookkeeping, VAT, Corporate Tax, reporting and compliance for UAE companies.

Business owners often run payments, invoicing, accounting and tax across separate tools, which creates fragmented workflows and manual work, the companies said. The integration brings two of those steps together.

The partnership is part of Ziina’s broader focus on building a financial platform around how businesses in the UAE live, work and transact, and it extends Ziina’s role beyond accepting and moving money. SMEs account for nearly 95% of companies operating in the UAE, more than 85% of private sector jobs and 63% of GDP, according to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.

Tomas Riberio, Partnerships Lead at Ziina, said: “Small businesses need financial tools that work together as their businesses grow.”

Vlad Sharuda, Co-Founder of skrooge.ai, said: “Businesses shouldn’t spend days, hours or weeks reconciling payments.”
