WATER raises $2.5M seed for adaptive surface intelligence

Bio physical AI company WATER has raised $2.5 million in a seed funding round led by early-stage venture capital firm Endiya Partners, with participation from Pullela Gopichand, Rohit Chennamaneni, Nandan Reddy, and other angel investors.

The fresh funds will be used for technical validation as the company works to develop an intelligence layer for adaptive surfaces, with potential applications across automotive, aviation, and other sectors, WATER said in a press release.

Founded in 2024 by Teja Vinukollu and Haneesh Mourya Desu, WATER develops adaptive surfaces, including the FLOW chair and CAMA bed, powered by VORTEX, its foundational model for understanding how the human body interacts with the physical environment.

The Hyderabad-based startup said its products use a combination of sensing, decision-making, and physical actuation to respond to the human body in real time. FLOW focuses on posture, movement, and load during seated interaction, while CAMA focuses on sleep, recovery, and respiration.

WATER said it plans to extend the underlying technology beyond chairs and beds to other physical environments, where surfaces and systems can adapt to individual needs.

The adaptive intelligent surfaces segment is still at an early stage in India, while the broader Physical AI and deeptech ecosystem is seeing growing investor interest.

Recently, Invisel raised Rs 4 crore in a funding round led by IAN Angel Fund, while Bengaluru-based Mowito secured $3 million in pre-seed funding to develop Physical AI foundation models for industrial robots.

Flo Mobility also raised $2.5 million in a pre-Series A round to scale its Physical AI-powered autonomous solutions for construction. Yaanendriya secured Rs 15 crore to develop sensing, navigation, and autonomous-control technologies for robotics and aerospace.
