UAE investment in India: $25 billion more planned

The UAE may invest another $25 billion in India in the near future, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on 28 September 2026. The UAE has invested about $25 billion in India and aims to raise its total investment to $100 billion in the years to come.
The UAE is looking at investments in Indian ports, shipbuilding, space, logistics, startups and the stock market. India and the UAE have also agreed to set a $200 billion bilateral trade target for 2032, while identifying cooperation across shipping, energy security, civil aviation, food security, agri-innovation, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and FinTech.
What the UAE does
The UAE is India's seventh-largest foreign direct investment source. The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, or ADIA, is one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds and invests on behalf of the Abu Dhabi government.

The countries’ joint task force, established in 2013, discusses bilateral investment and trade opportunities and addresses issues faced by investors from both sides.
The meeting also covered cooperation in shipping, including ship ownership, modern ports and ship manufacturing. A bilateral working group will be set up to take that cooperation forward.
Why UAE investment in India matters
Bilateral trade exceeded $101 billion in FY26, up from almost $73 billion in the fiscal year through March 2022. The two sides are using rupees and dirhams for trade settlements instead of routing bilateral transactions through the US dollar.
