Bengaluru-based manufacturing technology startup SwitchOn has raised $8 million in a pre-Series B funding round led by IvyCap Ventures. SIG Tattva and Trifecta Capital also participated in the round.
AI that watches the production line
SwitchOn builds AI systems that automate quality inspection on factory production lines. Its DeepInspect platform uses computer vision to analyse images of products and components during manufacturing, catching defects without relying solely on manual checks.
The technology operates at the edge — images are processed close to the production equipment rather than being sent to a remote data centre. The company describes its systems as Physical AI: AI that interacts directly with machinery and the physical environment.
Founded by Aniruddha Banerjee and Avra Banerjee, the startup previously raised $4.2 million in Series A funding in 2023.
Why it matters
Quality inspection in manufacturing has remained a largely manual bottleneck for decades — slow, inconsistent, and expensive to scale. SwitchOn is attacking that bottleneck with edge-deployed computer vision, which matters for any global manufacturer or supply-chain partner looking at India as more than a low-cost production base.
If the technology delivers, it turns Indian factories into early adopters of autonomous inspection infrastructure — a capability with direct relevance to precision manufacturing corridors including the Gulf. The international expansion flagged with this round suggests the team sees that window.
The new capital will fund international expansion, R&D, and increased sales and go-to-market operations across manufacturing industries.
"Manufacturing is the backbone of the global economy, yet quality inspection has remained stubbornly manual for decades," co-founder Aniruddha Banerjee said. He added that the investment will support SwitchOn's efforts to develop autonomous quality-inspection systems and help manufacturers reduce production defects.
