Pittsburgh-based AI robotics startup Skild AI has raised $300 million in a Series A funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue, SoftBankGroup, and Jeff Bezos (through Bezos Expeditions).

Deepak Pathak, Co-founder of Skild AI, announced the news on X. He said that Skild AI is now out of stealth mode with this Series A funding.

Other participatory investors include Felicis Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Menlo Ventures, General Catalyst, CRV, Amazon, SV Angel, and Carnegie Mellon University.

The startup plans to use the funding to scale its business model and expand its training datasets for future commercial use. Furthermore, the funds will be used to hire AI, robotics, engineering, operations, and security teams.

“Skild AI has achieved massive breakthroughs in a short period, and we believe they’re a one-of-a-kind company that could redefine our notions of what machines are capable of,” said Raviraj Jain, Partner, Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Founded in 2023 by former professors Abhinav Gupta and Deepak Pathak from Carnegie Mellon University, Skild AI specializes in developing AI-powered brains for robots. The recent funding round has valued the Pittsburgh-based startup at $1.5 billion.

In May, Lightspeed Venture Partners, NAA, and Sapphire Sport led a Series B funding round for Beehiiv, a startup from New York, raising $33 million. They also led a funding round for Pocket FM, raising about $103 million.
