Saudi Arabia Lithium Extraction Project Set for 2027

Saudi Aramco has awarded National Energy Services Reunited (NESR), a US oilfield services provider, a contract to set up Saudi Arabia’s first lithium extraction project.
The five-year deal is valued at almost $200 million, according to NESR. Production is expected to begin in late 2027, with a target of 2,000 tonnes per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate.

What NESR does
NESR will use modular solutions to condition brine feedstock and extract lithium through a single, integrated process, enabling rapid and scalable deployment.
Lithium is a major component in the energy transition chain, including electric vehicles, energy storage and renewables.
