Sachin Tendulkar has invested in Metasports Interactive, the company behind the mobile cricket strategy game Hitwicket, as a strategic investor. The company has not disclosed the size of the investment.

The investment follows $20 million in non-dilutive user-acquisition funding from London-based Metica in April 2026. Harsha Bhogle, the cricket commentator, is also a backer.

Metasports was founded by Kashyap Reddy and Keerti Singh, and launched Hitwicket in 2020. The company says the game has since crossed 20 million users across 120 countries.

Hitwicket is built around strategic decision-making. Players are required to make tactical choices inspired by the decisions cricketers take on the field.

Metasports describes itself as a mobile-first competitive sports gaming company focused on multiplayer titles designed for long-term engagement.

It says more than 97 per cent of Hitwicket’s revenue is generated through in-app purchases across India and international markets.

The company reported 100 per cent revenue growth over the six months preceding the announcement. It says players spend an average of 51 minutes a day in the game.

Tendulkar will also feature across the game’s in-app experiences, content and brand activations. The partnership will support the company’s ambition to take Hitwicket to 100 million downloads over the next three years.

”Cricket has always involved reading the bowler, assessing the field and deciding the right approach for every ball. Hitwicket captures that decision-making, going beyond reflexes to recreate how a cricketer thinks in the middle,” Tendulkar said.

Reddy, the company’s co-founder and CEO, said the association would give the company an opportunity to learn from Tendulkar’s understanding of how elite cricketers approach the game and use those insights to improve player engagement.
