Popo Global raises ₹532 crore from Artal Asia

Bengaluru-based Popo Global has raised ₹532 crore in a significant minority investment from Artal Asia, part of the US-based Invus Group. The company did not disclose valuation details or the size of the equity stake acquired.
Popo Global operates three gourmet food brands: The Pizza Bakery, Paris Panini, and Smash Guys. Founded in 2017 by brothers Nikhil Gupta and Abhijit Gupta, the company started with a single wood-fired oven and has since bootstrapped its expansion across the Bengaluru market.
The company describes its model as highly capital-efficient, combining quick-service restaurant convenience, fine dining experience, and delivery-kitchen scalability. Popo Global claims the highest same-store sales growth and repeat rates in the category.

Why it matters
Artal Asia's India track record includes backing Capital Foods for over a decade before its ₹5,200 crore acquisition by Tata Consumer Products. Its global portfolio features CAVA, the leading Mediterranean fast-casual brand in the US.
The firm's patient capital and operating expertise signal a long-term bet on Popo Global's unit economics and expansion beyond Bengaluru.
The investor's thesis is direct. “Our mission is to empower exceptional entrepreneurs to transform their industries,” said Lee Swee Yin, director at Artal Asia.
Popo's founders echoed the alignment. “Bringing Artal Asia into Popo lets us think considerably bigger while keeping the spirit that got us here, never cutting any corners on quality,” they said. “They have partnered with some of the world's most successful food businesses, and they understand that the product has to stay at the centre of it.”
