Pinegap Raises $8M Series A for Agentic Equity Research Platform

AI-powered equity research startup Pinegap has raised $8 Mn in its Series A funding round led by Stellaris Venture Partners, with participation from existing backers Silicon Valley Quad and DeVC. The company did not disclose its valuation.
The New York-headquartered startup, which also operates an office in Bengaluru, will use the fresh capital to build out its go-to-market and sales capabilities, expand its engineering team, and establish an in-house group of former equity research analysts.
Founded in 2024 by former JPMorgan analyst Ankit Varmani and IIT-BHU alumnus Deepak Sharma, Pinegap builds custom AI agents for institutional equity analysts and portfolio managers at hedge funds and mutual funds. The platform automates legwork that consumes analyst hours: parsing company disclosures, tracking earnings calls, and reviewing structural changes.
Rather than offering a general-purpose interface, Pinegap works directly with fund teams to understand their operations and fine-tunes agents to a specific team's workflow style. The startup reports it has deployed over 1,000 agents across more than 100 customers, generating upwards of 50,000 research reports to date.

Funding rounds and cross-border capital moves, one email, five minutes.
Why it matters: Application-layer AI ventures are absorbing the bulk of investor capital in the India corridor—nearly 80% of the $1.8 Bn raised by homegrown AI startups between 2020 and 2025 went to companies building commercial, use-case-specific tools, per Inc42 data.
Pinegap's focus on a demanding, compliance-heavy buyer on Wall Street represents a bet that the India-Gulf corridor's AI talent pipeline can produce vertical SaaS competitive globally, not just regionally. The presence of a Bengaluru engineering base alongside a New York go-to-market signals the corridor play in action: build where the talent is, sell where the buyer is.
"Every workflow we automate – whether it's an earnings preview, a company primer, or a thesis tracker – is the time an analyst gets back to focus on what only they can do: judgment, conviction, and decisions. Pinegap isn't a chatbot or a search tool," cofounder and CEO Deepak Sharma said.
Prior to this Series A, Pinegap raised a $2.5 Mn seed round in 2024 from Silicon Valley Quad, Inventus Capital Partners, and DeVC, among others.
