PhonePe Rebrands Indus Appstore as PhonePe Appstore

PhonePe has rebranded its homegrown app marketplace, Indus Appstore, as PhonePe Appstore, as it expands beyond app distribution into digital goods and services. According to the company, the platform is now available on more than 200 million devices through original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partnerships.

Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Karnataka and Telangana are its top five states by adoption, the company said. Last week, PhonePe also rebranded Share.Market as PhonePe Invest.

PhonePe Appstore offers apps and games across categories including social, action and simulation. Its catalogue includes ChatGPT, Duolingo, ShareChat and Sony LIV, alongside games such as Honor of Kings and Hitwicket.

The company is also adding gift cards and digital top-ups, using PhonePe's payments infrastructure to handle purchases. Gaming top-ups, including in-game currencies such as coins and skins, are expected to roll out first, followed by other digital products.

PhonePe is launching a webstore, phonepeappstore.com, where users can discover and buy digital goods through desktop and mobile browsers without downloading a dedicated app. Developers will be able to use integrated payments, advertising and insights to promote their offerings and grow their businesses.
