In 2023, the cross-chain bridge Orbit Chain was hacked, resulting in a loss of $81.5 million across several transactions.
Now, according to blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence, the hacker who hadn’t moved the funds until Saturday has sent 12,932 Ether (ETH), worth $47.7 million, in seven transactions on June 8 to a new address, which then sent the funds to the crypto mixer Tornado Cash.
Orbit Chain has also noted in an announcement that the funds had been moved.
“We are issuing an urgent notice as we have confirmed movements of the stolen assets from the Orbit Bridge. On June 8, 2024, at 10:45 PM(KST), we identified that the stolen assets moved to Tornado Cash,” Orbit Chain posted on its Telegram channel.
Additionally, while initial reports stated the exploit resulted in $82 million in losses, Arkham's recent posts indicate the figure is closer to $100 million.
