Nido Home Finance acquisition: Carlyle buys majority stake

Carlyle Asia Partners has completed its acquisition of a majority stake in Nido Home Finance, investing over ₹2,000 crore through primary capital infusion and a secondary share purchase. The transaction, first announced in February 2026, closed after obtaining regulatory and statutory approvals.
The primary infusion totals around ₹1,450 crore. Approximately ₹725 crore has been received, with the balance to be infused over the next 18 months. Carlyle has separately bought a 45 per cent stake from Edelweiss for about ₹600 crore. Edelweiss will retain roughly 26 per cent of Nido on a fully diluted basis after the capital infusion.

What the Nido Home Finance acquisition changes
Established in 2010, Nido is a housing finance company focused on affordable and mid-income housing. It serves more than 800 talukas across India and managed assets under management of approximately ₹4,900 crore as of June 2026.
