Limula Installs First LimONE Device at Stemmatters to Advance Automated Cell Therapy Manufacturing

Swiss life sciences company Limula has successfully deployed its first LimONE device at Stemmatters, a Portugal-based CDMO specializing in advanced therapies, marking a major milestone in the company’s mission to automate and scale the manufacturing of cell and gene therapies (CGT).
According to the official press release shared with Newzchain, the installation also signifies the completion of a critical phase in the EU-funded PAT4CGT initiative, which focuses on improving process efficiency and accessibility in personalized advanced therapies.
LimONE is a fully integrated, closed-system platform designed to automate all critical steps in CGT manufacturing. Its architecture minimizes manual interventions and contamination risks, consolidating the workflow into a single device to reduce costs and enhance product consistency.
The system supports applications from early-stage development to clinical and commercial-grade production, offering a scalable and cost-effective solution for therapeutic developers.

“For Limula, this deployment represents more than a product delivery—it’s validation of a vision to transform CGT manufacturing,” said Fabien Jammes, Product Lead at Limula. “Feedback from GMP operators during training at Stemmatters confirmed both the practicality and impact of our automation-first design.”
Limula’s close collaboration with Stemmatters over the past three years has been central to LimONE’s development. Stemmatters contributed continuous design input, ensuring the platform meets real-world manufacturing demands and is suitable for GMP environments. The partnership emphasized a Quality by Design framework from the outset.

The LimONE device was developed under the European Commission’s Horizon Europe PAT4CGT project, selected as one of only eight successful proposals from over 130 submissions to support emerging CGT manufacturing technologies. The project unites experts across seven countries to improve monitoring and decision-making processes in CGT.
With its all-in-one automated solution, Limula is working to simplify tech transfer, reduce time to clinic, and increase global access to life-saving, personalized treatments.
