Infineon acquires Bengaluru's C2i Semiconductors for AI data centre power
Infineon Technologies AG has announced the acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, a Bengaluru-based startup that specialises in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data centre applications.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of calendar year 2026.
Grid-to-core power for AI workloads
C2i Semiconductors builds power management technology that takes a system-level approach, covering the entire path from the electrical grid down to the processor core, commonly referred to as grid-to-core power delivery.
This is particularly relevant for AI infrastructure, where increasingly powerful processors create highly dynamic power demands that shift rapidly depending on workload.

Software-defined power systems like the ones C2i builds pair power semiconductors with digital control and software algorithms that adjust power conversion and regulation in real time.
As AI processors get more powerful, this becomes important because power delivery systems need to keep up with sudden changes in load without losing efficiency or stability.

Infineon already builds power semiconductors across silicon, silicon carbide, and gallium nitride, along with vertical power delivery products. Adding C2i's software-defined power management expertise to this lineup gives Infineon a way to build power delivery systems that are more adaptive to AI workloads specifically, and the two technologies together are also expected to feed into future substrate integrated voltage regulators.
