Indian Spacetech Startups Put AI, Imaging in Orbit

The move

Indian spacetech startups TakeMe2Space, SatLeo Labs and EON Space Labs sent AI computing and Earth observation technologies into orbit aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 on October 1, 2026. The Transporter-18 rideshare mission lifted off from California carrying TakeMe2Space’s MOI-1A satellite with EON Space Labs’ MIRA imaging system onboard, while SatLeo Labs’ TAPAS-1 thermal-imaging payload flew on Dhruva Space’s LEAP-2 satellite.

What Indian spacetech startups are building

TakeMe2Space, based in Hyderabad, is using MOI-1A to process Earth observation data in orbit with AI. The satellite is designed to identify objects or patterns in imagery and send back results, rather than requiring customers to download large volumes of raw data for processing on the ground.

MOI-1A has 117 trillion operations per second of onboard computing capacity, 2 TB of storage and a nine-band multispectral imager. TakeMe2Space says it has signed up 23 customers for its in-orbit inference services, with around 80% outside India.

SatLeo’s TAPAS-1 captures land-surface temperature data using thermal infrared sensing. EON’s MIRA is a 502-gram multispectral imaging system designed for Earth observation applications including agriculture, mining, marine monitoring, supply chains and insurance.
