Go-Delhi Foundation: what Delhi startups need to know

The Delhi government has approved the Go-Delhi Foundation, a Section 8 not-for-profit company with an initial budget outlay of Rs 50 crore. It will help startups, young innovators and small businesses turn ideas into products and take them to market.
The approval was given at a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office. The foundation will operate under the Delhi government’s Department of Industries.
The foundation will provide access to product engineering, prototyping, laboratories, testing facilities, technical guidance, mentorship, incubation, business support and opportunities to connect with investors.
Its support will cover product development, testing, certification preparation and market access. Students and researchers will receive help with prototyping, intellectual property, incubation and industry connections. It will use a hub-and-spoke model through existing facilities and partner institutions across Delhi.

Who it affects
The foundation will support startups, young innovators, micro, small and medium enterprises, students and researchers in Delhi. Delhi has nearly 21,000 startups recognised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
Government departments will be able to bring real-world problems to startups and test products built to solve them through pilot projects. Successful solutions may be taken forward for adoption.
Government departments as test customers
The foundation will work with industry, educational institutions, investors and other partners. Its hub-and-spoke model will deliver programmes through existing facilities and partner institutions across the city rather than building everything from scratch.
