Focus Prism raises ₹145 crore from OAKS, buys FoodExo

Focus Prism, a Coimbatore-based food services platform, has raised ₹145 crore from OAKS Asset Management, according to Mint. OAKS took a significant minority stake.

Most of the proceeds financed Focus Prism's acquisition of FoodExo Chennai Pvt. Ltd, with a portion reserved for other growth plans. OAKS founder Vivek Anand told Mint the acquisition was about ₹150 crore in size and was a mix of stock and cash.

Focus Prism was founded in 2017 by Subramanian Suryanarayanan. Its early proposition centered on food cost optimization and a technology platform, and the business has since evolved into technology-enabled, direct food service operations.

It operates in more than 25 cities with over 65 kitchens under management. FoodExo, established in 2011, is a corporate catering company that has scaled up to more than 2,000 employees serving 150,000 meals per day as of 2025.

Its founder, Ganesh Panchanathan, has been absorbed into Focus Prism and is now head of operations - south at the firm.

According to a note shared by OAKS, India's institutional food services market is over ₹60,000 crore in size, with the top three players controlling just about 11% of it.

Large institutional food services companies such as Sodexo and the Compass Group have demonstrated how the industry has scaled over time, including through acquisitions, sector expansion, purchasing efficiencies and cross-selling benefits.

Focus Prism will follow a similar trajectory of acquiring and integrating high-quality regional, specialist family-run operators where it sees a strategic fit. The strategy will involve bringing businesses onto a common management, technology and procurement framework.

After the acquisition, Focus Prism has a projected revenue of about ₹700 crore in the current fiscal year and over ₹1,500 crore by FY30.
