Fibe launches UPI payments after NPCI TPAP approval
Fibe has launched UPI payments on its app after NPCI approval as a Third-Party Application Provider, covering bank accounts, RuPay cards and credit lines.

Pune-based digital lending platform Fibe has launched UPI payments on its app after receiving approval from NPCI to operate as a Third-Party Application Provider (TPAP). Third-party application providers are non-bank companies that run UPI apps for consumers, the same category that includes PhonePe and Google Pay.
Users can make UPI payments from their bank accounts, RuPay credit cards and eligible credit lines linked to UPI, all through the Fibe app.
Fibe was founded in 2015 by Akshay Mehrotra and Ashish Goyal under the name EarlySalary, and operates through Social Worth Technologies. Its lending operations are managed by its NBFC subsidiary, EarlySalary Services Private Limited.
The UPI launch adds an everyday payments product to a range that already includes the Fibe Axis Bank credit card, third-party fixed deposits, loans against mutual funds, and financing for healthcare, education and rooftop solar installations.
Two of the three payment options Fibe is offering are credit products, which ties the UPI launch closely to the company’s lending business. RuPay credit cards can already be linked to UPI. Fibe launched its co-branded credit card with Axis Bank in October 2023, describing it as India’s first numberless credit card. The card runs on RuPay and was built to be linked to UPI, with the card number, expiry date and CVV available only in the Fibe app.
Pre-sanctioned bank credit lines are a more recent addition to UPI. In a September 2023 circular, the RBI said payments through “a pre-sanctioned credit line issued by a Scheduled Commercial Bank to individuals, with prior consent of the individual customer, are enabled for transactions using the UPI System.” The circular, updated in February 2025, lets banks set the credit limit, period of credit and interest rate under their own board-approved policies.
Fibe is entering a market that is growing quickly but is dominated by a few apps. UPI processed a record 25.47 billion transactions worth Rs 31.53 lakh crore in October 2026, according to NPCI data. Volume rose 23% year-on-year and value rose 16%. The average daily value crossed Rs 1 lakh crore for the first time, at Rs 1,01,707 crore.
In September, PhonePe had a 45.6% share of UPI transaction volume, Google Pay 32.2% and Paytm 8.1%, according to NPCI data. The three apps together handled nearly 86% of transactions through listed UPI apps.
Akshay Mehrotra, MD and Group CEO of Fibe, said digital payments had become central to consumers’ everyday financial transactions. He said the company’s focus was on giving users greater choice and control over how they make payments.
The UPI launch comes about seven weeks after the company received SEBI’s final observations on its proposed IPO, on 15 September 2026. It had filed its DRHP on 29 June.
