Trump Backs Cryptocurrency, Plans to Accept Crypto Donations for Campaign

Crypto is moving out of the U.S. because of hostility towards crypto. We’ll stop it because I don’t want that—if we’re going to embrace it, we have to let them be here.

  • Donald Trump expressed support for cryptocurrency at an event for Trump NFT holders, stating he plans to accept campaign donations in crypto.
  • Trump voiced commitment to retaining crypto businesses in the U.S., acknowledging that hostility towards crypto.

Former U.S. President and current U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump voiced his support for cryptocurrency during an event for Trump NFT holders at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Wednesday.

NFT creator and influencer, Frank Degods, recently upload a couple of videos on X (formerly Twitter) where it showed Trump telling buyers of his NFTs that he plans to accept campaign donations in crypto.

“If you can’t, I’ll make sure you can,” Trump said. “Can we donate to the Trump campaign using crypto? I believe the answer is yes.”

When asked about retaining crypto businesses in the U.S., Trump expressed his commitment to keeping them in the country.

“Crypto is moving out of the U.S. because of hostility towards crypto. We’ll stop it because I don’t want that—if we’re going to embrace it, we have to let them be here.”

According to Axios, individuals invited to the dinner, who are supporters of Trump's “Mugshot” NFTs, collectively purchased over 47 NFTs, each priced at $99. These NFTs feature Trump's mugshot from his 2023 arrest on conspiracy charges related to the 2020 U.S. election, which is pending trial.
