Docterz raises Rs 5 crore from doctors, Vineeta Singh and Avnish Anand

Docterz, a healthcare technology startup founded by paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, has raised Rs 5 crore from around 35 investors.

Around 20 of the investors are doctors who use the platform, and together they put in nearly Rs 3 crore, about 60% of the total. The group also includes Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane.

The company plans to use the funds to expand organically, explore acquisitions and develop AI tools for doctors. It also aims to widen its reach among independent practitioners, smaller clinics and healthcare organisations across India.

Docterz was founded over a decade ago and offers an integrated platform for electronic medical records, appointments, billing, vaccination management and patient engagement.

Its technology supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a strong presence in paediatrics. The company is also developing AI-enabled tools to help doctors with documentation, administrative workflows, practice data analysis and patient follow-ups.

Dr Dhananjay Sangle, a paediatrician and Docterz investor, said his decision to invest was based on his experience using the platform for several years and his confidence in its founder.

Singh said customer participation in a funding round was a strong signal for a business, adding that doctors investing in Docterz reflected their trust in the platform and its founder.

Dr Suhas Warad, another paediatrician and investor in the company, said technology designed around doctors' needs could help them manage their practices more efficiently and devote more time to patient care.
