Definedge raises Rs 22 crore in pre-Series A funding

Fintech and brokerage startup Definedge has raised Rs 22 crore in a pre-Series A funding round, taking its total funding raised to date to Rs 30 crore.

The round saw continued participation from existing backers Nitin Agarwal and D. Prasad, alongside new investors Anant Jain and Sachin Kasera.

Prior to this, the Pune-based startup had closed its first institutional and angel investment round in November last year, led by industry veterans including Hemant Luthra, Ajay Srivastava, D. Prasad, Nitin Agarwal and Madhusudan N. Sarda.

Co-founded in 2021 by Prashant Shah and Rajesh Badiye, Definedge operates a full-stack wealth-tech ecosystem of over 14 platforms, including Opstra, Zone, Algostra, Momentify and Gurukul, offering trading, investing, research and learning tools for retail traders and investors.

The fresh funds will be utilised for infrastructure and low-latency execution, scaling Zone and Opstra, its flagship trading products, expanding Algostra into a no-code retail algo-trading platform in India, and advancing Momentify from a systematic investing tool into a wealth creation platform, Definedge said in a press release.

According to Definedge, it is targeting Rs 5,000 crore in AUM through Momentify over the next 24 months, up from the Rs 1,000 crore in AUM it has already crossed. The startup also plans to scale its Gurukul learning ecosystem for retail participants.

Definedge aims to scale its technology, service and operational infrastructure to support a larger customer base. It will also focus on the adoption of AI platforms such as Momentify and Algostra, which help users adopt a systematic approach to trading and investing. The startup claims its user base has grown 125% in the last 14 months and 10X over the last 36 months.

Indian fintech startups raised about $2 billion across 106 funding rounds in H1 2026, up 42% year-on-year.

In the brokerage and wealth-tech segment, Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, Upstox and Dhan are among the prominent players, while newer platforms such as Sahi, Trackk and Zomint are targeting younger and first-time investors with trading, analytics and wealth-management products.

Sahi raised $33 million this year, while Trackk and Zomint were in funding discussions. Navi raised $100 million from Prosus, marking its first institutional funding round, while wealth-management platform Centricity raised $27 million during the same month.

The segment is also expanding beyond Indian equities, with Groww, Zerodha, Angel One and Upstox receiving IFSCA approvals to facilitate international equity investing through GIFT City.
