Coimbatore GCC expansion: 200 centres possible by 2032

The move: Coimbatore could grow its GCC ecosystem from more than 75 centres today to nearly 200 by 2032, according to a new EY-CII report released on 30 September 2026. The proposed growth would add approximately 125 GCCs over the next six years through the report’s five-pillar “5R Growth Framework”.

The framework covers Resilience, attracting Metro+1 mandates from enterprises diversifying beyond major GCC hubs; Replicate, using existing GCCs to attract competitors, suppliers and industry peers; Regionalize, enabling South Indian enterprises to establish internal capability centres; Role-led, building engineering, industrial technology and innovation capabilities; and Ramp-up, helping existing GCCs expand their mandates, talent and global responsibilities.

What Coimbatore’s GCC ecosystem does

The report says some existing Coimbatore GCCs have scaled to over 1,000 employees, while many others remain in the early stages of their growth journey.

Coimbatore has a population of 3.8 million, a technology workforce exceeding 300,000 professionals, 137 engineering colleges, more than 30,000 STEM graduates annually and over 75 GCCs as of 2026. The report also points to workforce stability, lower attrition compared with larger metro locations, Grade A office rentals and Tamil Nadu’s payroll-linked GCC incentive framework as structural strengths.

Manoj Marwah, Partner and GCC Markets Leader at EY India, said, “The next phase is about replicating this success across the ecosystem, deepening engineering ownership and building globally relevant capabilities.”
