Agnikul Cosmos gets ₹200 crore TDB funding for reusable launch vehicle
The Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, has signed an agreement with Chennai-based space start-up Agnikul Cosmos for ₹200 crore in financial support.
The support will be provided through Optionally Convertible Debentures (OCD).

The funding will support the company’s development of a launch vehicle designed around reusability, enabling high-frequency and repeatable launches while reducing launch and manufacturing costs and limiting the generation of space debris.
The ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme, launched in November 2025, aims at providing capital support for “high-risk, high-impact projects” and strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem. TDB has been designated as a Second-Level Fund Manager under the scheme.
Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, said: “The next phase of India’s space journey will require technologies that not only reach orbit but can do so with greater frequency, flexibility and efficiency.
Reusability is an important technology frontier in this regard. Through the RDI Fund, TDB is supporting the development of ambitious indigenous technologies that require sustained investment to progress from advanced technology stages towards deployment.”
