Industries worldwide are transforming with waves of innovation and sustainability hitting them, and the fashion industry is no exception.

With a more eco-friendly and eco-conscious approach to fashion, this shift is driven by the need for sustainable practices and responsible business models.

With a strong focus on sustainability, creativity, and community, Sajú is revolutionizing the fashion industry in Latin America.

Embracing Innovation in the Fashion Industry

the Sajú produces sustainable, functional, and fashionable sunglasses and accessories that reflect the ethos of eco-friendliness.

Beyond the product design, the company aims to reduce environmental waste while fostering community growth.

With a commitment to making life easier for the customers and the planet, Saju was conceived in 2017 by three visionaries, Juan Manuel Agudelo, Santiago Puentes and Juan Pablo Pradilla who wanted to do things differently.

The Colombian company's campaigns, products, and materials are designed with change and innovation in mind.

Their mission extends beyond product design; they aim to reduce environmental waste while fostering community growth.

From sourcing materials to creating the final products, the company utilizes recycled and biodegradable materials to minimize its carbon footprint.

Sajú makes “accessories for accessories” and has extended its portfolio to accessories for cell phones and cameras.

Be it the sunglasses made from recycled plastic, the “monkey-stopper”, glass accessories, or phone holders, the company has forged a catalog of more than 12 references with which they have conquered more than 10 countries through distribution.

Sajú introduced the Colombian eyewear accessories market with a new, unique product that was inspired by the capuchin monkeys, known as Sajú in the Colombian Pacific.

The instinct of the monkeys to use their tails to hang from the branches of trees was the creative inspiration behind the inception of their famous “monkey tails,” a comfortable and practical accessory that refreshed the image of all those who wear glasses.

Colliding the Worlds of Creativity and Community

Although creativity is at the root of this company, Sajú prioritizes community. The company emphasizes the need to connect consumers with innovative and sustainable products that widen their engagement with local artisans, thus providing jobs and resources for communities across Latin America.

All their products are a vibrant blend of colours and designs, allowing consumers to express themselves while contributing to the planet's well-being.

In the current market which is often crowded by brands with similar visions, the blend of community-driven production and eco-friendly business models is what makes Saju stand out in the long run.

As they have already entered the world of NFTs, the company is also set to prove that fashionable products through e-commerce platforms can be equally environmentally responsible.

This approach is aimed to appeal to customers who are increasingly environmentally conscious and the impact their consumerist habits can have on nature.

Innovations and Future Impacts

Sajú has been so successful that internationally known brands such as Adidas have collaborated with them, allowing them to acquire greater visibility.

In 2021, having sold around 2.3 million COP, they expect to reach further heights in the years upcoming.

In 2022, Saju had a total funding amount of $130 million, with investments from notable investors such as Rappi and FJ Labs, following a series of funding rounds including Seed, Series A, Series B, and Series C.

Sajú has managed to diversify its products and launch a new line of glasses, thus increasing the added value of the brand.

"We have put on the shirt to educate the consumer, and explain that sustainable products made from recycled materials can also be products of excellent quality," remarked Juan Pablo Pradilla, CEO and Co-founder, Sajú.

In the medium and long term, this is the beginning of a new sustainability-oriented company, with all future projects to keep sustainably in the forefront and the goal of becoming a 100% sustainable company.

Sajú has managed to create a name for itself by being a representation of companies that highlight the value of sustainable entrepreneurship as a reality in a world that demands more sustainable projects and better consumption practices.
